PROCESS

Either/Or

Thoughts and considerations on each step in the process of creating the artworks have been made with the intention of translating the Either/Or moments in the most unmediated way, as if the viewer could also relive the moment themselves. In conversation with multiple printing specialists, the six works have been printed with the chromogenic print technique to ensure the most direct translation of the moments captured in the wilderness through the camera's viewfinder. The silver halide crystals in the delicate paper make it possible to render the photograph's colors full-tone, which alters its engagement with the works differently.

The print is merged with UV-resistant acrylic museum glass, which protects the work and removes glare to facilitate the best possible engagement with the work. The TrueView version of acrylic glass was chosen to enhance the richness of the colors of the print.

The wooden frames are made from oak and handmade by Melchior to ensure they match the envisioned design. The paint is also handmade by Melchior. While searching for the right colors, making his own paint ensured consistency across each work. Ten colors were made and tested on each work, not to overemphasize or weaken the photograph, but to enhance it just right.

Each work will be part of a series of five, with one artist's print for each work.
